2010 American Control Conference -- ACC2010
Baltimore, Maryland, USA
June 30 - July 2, 2010

Student Programs

Student Travel Awards

The 2010 ACC expects to have limited funds available to assist students who are traveling to the conference to present papers. These funds will be provided in part by the IEEE Control Systems Society, the ASME Dynamics and Control Division, and the American Automatic Control Council. The intent of the travel grants is to supplement other sources of funding; full travel reimbursement will not be available. The available funds will be divided fairly among the students who apply.

Reimbursable expenses include student registration fee, hotel (partial, e.g. for sharing a room), and travel (air or train ticket). Non-reimbursable expenses include regular (full) registration, meals, and local transportation (taxis, shuttles, parking, etc). Note that the different funding sources have different restrictions. For example, the ASME and IEEE funds require ASME or IEEE student membership, respectively.

There is a two stage application process to receive this travel assistance:

Step 1. The student must submit a student travel award application through PaperPlaza (From the PaperPlaza main page, click on "Submit a contribution to 2010 ACC" and then "Student Travel Award Application.") The deadline for applications is May 14, 2010.

Step 2. The student must submit an expense report with receipts immediately after the conference along with their advisor's certification that the expenses were not otherwise covered by university, foundation, or industry funds.

Student Best Paper Award

The 2010 ACC is pleased to announce a Student Best Paper Award: All primary, first-listed authors of a regular contributed paper who were students at the time of submission are eligible. To be considered for the award, the paper must be nominated by the student’s advisor. The nomination must be submitted through PaperPlaza (From the PaperPlaza main page, click on "Submit a contribution to 2010 ACC" and then "Student Best Paper Nomination.") The deadline for nominations is October 30, 2009.

The finalists are required to present their paper at the conference to be eligible to receive the award. Travel expenses including hotel, transportation, conference registration, and meals/incidental expenses (on a per diem basis) will be covered to enable the finalists to attend.

Hotel/Travel Accommodations for Students

Please note that the deadline for the reduced hotel rate is April 27th
Also, please be aware that these rooms are on a limited space-available basis.

The 2010 ACC is once again pleased to provide three hotel accommodation services to students. First, we can help you receive discounted hotel rates at the conference hotel. Second, we can help you find other students who may be interested in sharing a room at the 2010 American Control Conference. Third, we can provide directions for applying for the Student Travel Support. To access these services, go to:
